Postdoctoral Position in Neurobiology Karolinska Institutet, Department of Neurobiology Sweden


A postdoctoral position in molecular imaging is available. The goal of our research is to uncover the complex pathophysiological mechanisms in Alzheimer´s disease in order to develop new molecular biomarkers allowing early therapeutic intervention in the time course of the disease. By using positron emission tomography (PET ) the focus of our research is measuring different forms of amyloid and tau proteins, inflammatory processes (astrocytes) in relation to neurodegeneration. Multi-tracer PET studies are performed in presymptomatic early-onset familial as well as sporadic Alzheimer´s disease and other forms of dementia disorders. The environment provides an excellent post-doctoral training in an international working environment, guest lectures, seminars, courses and possibilities to publish in high impact journals.
The candidate should have a PhD in related disciplines (neurology, neuroscience, neuropsychology, psychiatry, geriatrics, radiology) with a solid knowledge in imaging, statistical preferable also modelling experience as well as using MATLAB, SPM, Free-Surfer. The applicant should have at least one first-author publication in a international peer-reviewed journal. Communication and writing in English is required and being a good team player and work independent.
The postdoctoral scholarship is awarded to individuals who come from other countries with the intention of remaining in Sweden only while obtaining all or part of their education. The scholarship is paid for 12 months at a time, paid monthly and is exempted from Swedish income tax. This educational scholarship can be paid for a maximum of two years.
