Postdoctoral Position in Psychology Ghent University Belgium

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoc for a 3-year position at the Dept. of Experimental Psychology, Ghent University (Belgium). The focus of our lab is the investigation of motivational influences on different cognitive functions.

The postdoc position will be created as part of an ERC starting grant “REMOTIVATE – reward revisited: towards a comprehensive understanding of motivational influences on human cognition”. The candidate will mainly be involved in EEG (and fMRI) experiments to explore how emotional and reward-related stimuli and contexts affect long-term memory encoding.

Candidates are expected to have a PhD in the field of psychology or cognitive neuroscience at the time of the starting date. Individuals with experience in the domains of memory formation, reward and emotion processing would be excellent for this position. Prior training in EEG data acquisition and analysis and good programming skills are required. Experience with time-frequency analyses as well as other cognitive neuroscience methods (fMRI, eye tracking, TMS) would be an asset. 

Our department hosts several research groups in the realm of cognitive psychology and cognitive neuroscience, creating a dynamic research environment including regular internal talk series as well as presentations by invited speakers. We have access to two EEG systems (Biosemi and BrainProducts), a research-dedicated 3-tesla MR scanner (Siemens), as well as eye-tracking devices, a TMS lab, and an MR-compatible EEG system.

The preferred starting date for this position is March 1st 2017, but can also be some weeks earlier or later.
