Position overview
The ANU Centre for Social Research and Methods is seeking to make several casual sessional appointments in the areas of criminology, sociology, psychology, social research methods or related disciplines. These roles are based within the Centre's Teaching Program which is responsible for delivering several undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs, including the Bachelor of Criminology, the Criminology Major and Minor and Master of Social Research. CSRM also convenes courses taught within the Master of Criminology, Justice and Regulation and the Master of Applied Data Analytics. The appointees will have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or professional practice in criminology, sociology, psychology, social research methods or related disciplines with knowledge and understanding of pedagogical and/or adult learning principles (experience teaching at the tertiary level would be an advantage). Computer, administrative and record keeping skills (for example email, Wattle, Moodle, internet) will be highly regarded. This position is based Canberra.
The Centre for Social Research and Methods (CSRM) was established in 2015 to provide national leadership in the study of Australian society. CSRM has a strategic focus on: the development of social research methods; analysis of social issues and policy; training in social science methods; long-term maintenance of crucial ANU surveys; and providing access to social scientific data. CSRM has around 50 staff from a range of academic disciplines including criminology, economics, psychology, anthropology, epidemiology, political science and demography.
The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is the largest single College of seven Colleges at ANU. The College, which is structured into two main research schools, offers degrees in more than 20 discipline areas and excels in research across the creative arts, humanities and social sciences. The College has a substantial international research presence and is a major source of national policy advice. Our academic staff are internationally recognised for their research, and 57 are members of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the Academy of the Social Sciences of Australia, or both. We also host 13 Australian Research Council Future Fellows and two ARC Laureates. A hub of vibrant activity, we host more than 270 lectures, concerts and exhibitions each year, most of which are open to the public.
