Position Summary

The Department of Psychiatry and the Center for Women’s Mood Disorders at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an innovative externally-funded research program directed at uncovering and utilizing the microbiota-brain axis to understand reproductive related mood disorders, manage and provide care on the Perinatal Psychiatry Inpatient Unit and in the outpatient clinic, supervise psychiatry trainees diagnosing and providing care on the inpatient unit and in the outpatient clinic, and provide education to medical students and residents in perinatal mental health. This applicant will be developing into an expert in utilizing and manipulating the microbiota-brain axis to improve outcomes for mother and child and as such will have research that studies maternal and infant microbiota and stress reactivity. A demonstrated ability to write successful extramural grant applications and eligibility for licensure to practice psychiatry in the state of North Carolina are required. Applicants with experience in translational research that integrates multiple disciplines and with significant clinical expertise in women’s mood disorders are encouraged to apply.

Educational Requirements
Applicants should have an MD, DO or MD/PhD degree. Fellowship training in women’s mood disorders is preferred.


Qualifications and Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated ability to write successful grant applications and publish in refereed scientific journals.
