The Department of Psychiatry seeks to appoint a full-time research assistant or research associate, to work with Professor John O'Brien and Professor James Rowe on clinical research projects, including those involving MR and PET brain imaging, in people with Lewy body, parkinsonian and other dementias and related disorders as part of the NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) Dementia and Neurodegeneration theme.


This BRC funded role will be concerned with study co-ordination, subject recruitment and assessment, undertaking cognitive and other assessments, co-ordinating study governance processes, including report writing, managing and maintaining databases for clinical studies which form the Clinical Programmes within the BRC and the Cambridge PD+ Centre. An innovative programme of new longitudinal clinical studies are planned, including multimodal MR and PET imaging of synaptic and other changes, to investigate novel biomarkers and mechanisms in Lewy body and related PD+ disorders, as well as Alzheimer's disease, mild cognitive impairment, other dementias and in normal controls. The post holder would be encouraged to assist with data analysis and the preparation of manuscripts.

Applicants should have a degree (for research assistant) or PhD (for research associate) and relevant previous clinical research experience would be an advantage. The role holder would be encouraged to develop their own independent area of research and, for suitable applicants, to seek further independent funding for their work as appropriate.


Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2022 in the first instance.
