The Faculty of Social Sciences at Lund University is one of the leading education and research institutions in Sweden and operates both in Lund and Helsingborg.

 

The Department of Psychology combines education with research and has in recent years been very successful in the competition for external research funds. Central research areas include occupational and organizational psychology, clinical psychology, cognition, neuropsychology, personality and social psychology and developmental psychology.

 

Many of our courses are developed in connection with research projects, and students are given the opportunity to gain access to current research findings from teachers who themselves are active researchers in their respective areas. Our education environment has long been highly internationalized.


Duties
The position involves teaching, supervision and assessment at undergraduate and Master’s level, in the degree programme in psychology and freestanding courses specialising in work and organisational psychology. Teaching may also include tasks such as course management, course development and course administration. Teaching in other subjects may occur in, for example, general psychology and research methods as well as in freestanding courses. Teaching is conducted in Swedish and English. The majority of the teaching and assessment will be conducted in Swedish; an advanced level of oral and written Swedish or Scandinavian is therefore required. The duties also include research and dissemination of research findings, and participation in the department’s work to generate external research funding, as well as promotion of the department’s infrastructure and educational development work.

 

Qualifications
Those qualified for appointment as a senior lecturer are individuals who have been awarded a PhD in psychology, have documented teaching expertise, have completed five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or have acquired the equivalent knowledge. In special circumstances, some of the training in higher education teaching and learning may be conducted during the first year of employment. To be appointed, the individual must have a documented ability to teach in Swedish/Scandinavian and English.

 

Assessment criteria
Equal attention will be given to teaching and research expertise. In the selection process, equal importance will be attached to teaching and research expertise.

 

The applicant’s teaching expertise should be well documented. In the assessment of the applicant’s teaching expertise, emphasis will be placed on the quality of teaching. The scope, breadth and depth will also to be taken into account. Specialised teaching experience in work and organisational psychology is of particular merit. In addition, the applicant’s documented ability to plan, initiate, manage and develop teaching, as well as the ability to link the teaching to research, will be considered. Teaching expertise includes a documented ability to contribute to work involving the development of higher education teaching and learning and the quality of education.

 

In the assessment of research expertise, special emphasis will be placed on research activity (scope/scientific quality), the ability to initiate and independently conduct research, the ability to obtain research funding in national competition, and the proven ability to interact with both fellow researchers and wider society.

 

Given that the advertised position involves teaching and assessment within the context of the degree programme in psychology, special consideration will be given to applicants with professional skills and experience in psychology in fields such as work environment/occupational health, recruitment/assessment,or organisational development.Special consideration will be given to applicants who are registered psychologists.

 

Administrative skills are demonstrated through the ability to plan, develop and manage courses, and the ability to cooperate in both teaching and research.

 

Personal traits such as thoroughness, ability to take personal responsibility, and ability to cooperate are considered important in order to perform the duties well. Personal circumstances of importance (e.g. parental leave) should be reported along with the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
