The vacancy is at the Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences (GMW). This faculty is part of the RUG and is strong in research and education in the field of behavior, thinking, learning and living together of people. We want to continue to develop our theoretical and methodologically well-founded knowledge domains - psychology, sociology, pedagogy, educational science, and subject didactics.

 

The Pedagogics basic unit is part of the Department of Pedagogical Sciences and Educational Sciences (PedOk) of GMW. The basic unit provides education for Bachelor's students in the Bachelor's programs Pedagogical Sciences and AOLB (Academic Training Teacher Primary Education) and for Master's students in the international Master's program Ethics of Education: Philosophy, History and Law. The research concerns education and education in the context of culture and society and is carried out within the research program Education in Culture.

 

Job description

The vacancy concerns a lecturer in Pedagogy and Ethics with expertise in the field of ethical, historical and / or legal issues concerning upbringing and education. We expect the candidate to have exceptional interest and experience in the field of educational coordination and to be able to work in the team of lecturers and researchers that takes care of the curriculum and the research program. Education is given in the field of theory, history and rights of the child in the bachelor's programs Pedagogical Sciences, the AOLB and especially the master's program Ethics of Education: Philosopy, History and Law. The tasks concern: coordinating and promoting the master track, giving lectures and supervising theses and internships. Research takes place within the Education in Culture research program. The research can be given a more theoretical or a more historical accent, depending on the researcher's expertise. Scientific research should lead to (peer-reviewed) international and national publications and presentations at national and international conferences.

 

Job requirements

• promoted, preferably in the area of ethics of education and education, history of education and education and / or rights of the child 
• scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals 
• experience in giving and coordinating education; in possession of the Basic Education Qualification, a comparable qualification or willingness to acquire it; the willingness to further develop skills on a didactical level 
• good command of English, both orally and in writing.

 

Working conditions

The University of Groningen offers a salary depending on qualifications and work experience of at least € 3,637 (scale 11 Dutch Universities) to a maximum of € 5,656 (scale 12) gross per month for full-time work, excluding 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8, 3%. It concerns a temporary appointment for the period of 3 years.
