Description

The University of California, Davis, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is recruiting for an Assistant/Associate Professor in Residence Developmental Psychologist with expertise in Down syndrome and other neurodevelopmental disorders.

 

A full-time faculty position (In Residence Series) is available in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Assistant/Associate Professor in Residence level for an early career developmental psychologist with expertise in behavioral science approaches to studying neurodevelopmental disorders in human clinical populations. The candidate must possess a Ph.D. in developmental psychology or closely related discipline. Demonstrated expertise in conducting studies of children and adolescents with Down syndrome and other neurodevelopmental disorders, such as fragile X syndrome and autism spectrum disorder, is required. A track record of publication on these conditions and evidence of the potential to secure extramural research funding are required. Preferred qualifications include additional expertise in cognitive and language development, comorbid behavioral health conditions, and behavioral measure development.

 

The individual selected for the position will be expected to build a successful, independent research program and demonstrate excellence in teaching and university service. Specific responsibilities include: 1) carrying out studies illuminating the developmental course of the behavioral phenotypes associated with Down syndrome and other neurodevelopmental disorders in children and adolescents, 2) conducting cross-syndrome comparisons of behavioral phenotypes, 3) conducting studies of comorbid behavioral health conditions in these neurodevelopmental disorders, 4) development and validation of measures of language and cognitive functioning in clinical populations, and 5) successfully competing for extramural funding to support these lines of scientific inquiry. Additional responsibilities include interdisciplinary collaborations with faculty from diverse backgrounds and participation in large-scale, team science initiatives.
This recruitment is conducted at the Assistant/Associate Rank in the health sciences clinical professor series, and the resulting hires will be at the Assistant/Associate rank in this series regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications.
