Assistant Professor in Applied Behavior Analyst in Psychology and Counseling

Primary Responsibilities 


Teach the equivalent of 12 hours per semester and maintain active scholarly work in the field

Serve both undergraduate and graduate teaching in the online Applied Behavior Analysis Masters and Certificate programs

Supervise graduate students in behavior analysis practicum

Position is a 10-month contract, with the option of an additional summer teaching contract


 Required Qualifications:

Doctorate degree (by August 2020) in applied behavior analysis or strongly related field with an emphasis in function-based assessment and intervention, evidence-based practice, single-subject design research; the degree must be from a graduate program accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International or a qualifying institution in which the candidate conducted a behavior analytic dissertation 

Candidates must hold the credential of Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral Level (BCBA-D) (Certification must be in good standing with no previous or pending revocations by the board)

Candidates must be able to qualify and apply for the BCBA-D credential within the first year of employment

Candidates must apply for a Missouri State Licensure and have completed the BACB© required Supervisor Training by start date

Minimum of three years clinical Applied Behavior Analysis experience

Knowledge of Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) standards for training students and current trends in the field of applied behavior analysis

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external agencies

Demonstrated potential for successful teaching at the college/university level

Demonstrated potential for successful remote clinical supervision of practicum students

Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development in the field of applied behavior analysis and related fields

Demonstrated potential for scholarly work

Experience or knowledge of using technology in instruction, including online teaching

Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills

Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community

Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities

Departmental Information:  The Department of Psychology and Counseling is housed in the College of Education, Health and Human Studies. We offer two undergraduate degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (online) and four graduate degrees:  Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Master of Arts in School Counseling, Master of Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis, and Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling. We have an Ed.S. in Counseling that prepares students who are interested in seeking school counseling certification and advanced experience supervising students in the future for their LPC in Missouri. A Missouri certificate is also available at the graduate level for School Psychological Examiner. The department has 22 full time faculty, with undergraduate and graduate enrollment increasing each year.
