VA Connecticut Healthcare System and Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry are recruiting a Board Certified/ Board Eligible Psychiatrist with experience and interest in treatment of psychiatric patients in general mental health clinics and posttraumatic stress (PTSD) specialty clinic. Patients to be treated also have disorders including psychosis, mood disorders, and addictive disorders. Clinical care includes work at one of the satellite clinics (Newington, community-based outpatient clinics) and telehealth work all within VA CT Healthcare System. This position includes an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor at the Yale Department of Psychiatry. Candidates must have clear interest and experience in treating psychiatric patients; candidates should also have an interest in academic or scholarly work. Those candidates with experience/interest in PTSD may be preferred. 

Clinical responsibilities will include working with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals in order to care for patients with serious mental illness as well as those with substance abuse comorbidity. It will also include pharmacotherapy and may include hospital-based interventions using empirically supported interventions (e.g. ECT, ketamine and rTMS) and may include behavioral treatments including group, individual, family and couples and telehealth. Tele-mental health is also included so applicants with experience and interest in tele-mental health are preferred.

The individual will be responsible for teaching fellows, residents, medical students and other trainees, and for initiating scholarly work related to teaching or research. Research conducted within this position may involve a wide array of topics, including but not limited to studying PTSD, psychosis, mood disorders, suicidality and other issues that affect veterans, epidemiology, pharmacologic treatment, psychotherapy development, training, or implementation, and technology-based assessment and treatment approaches. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct scholarly work, either in education, by developing educations materials, publishing on education and other clinical topics or in research with writing of grants and ability to properly manage and administer projects and collaborate with faculty within VA Connecticut Healthcare System and the Yale Department of Psychiatry.
