We believe that diverse teams deliver the highest quality teaching, research and student experience.  To achieve our vision of being among the top ranked Schools in all areas for Research, Knowledge Exchange, Education and Student Experience, we are seeking applications from high quality people who will join our staff community who we believe will act as the role models for the next generation of psychologists. We understand that our research and teaching are enhanced by having a diversity of opinions that enriches our collegiate community by the sharing of new ideas, lived experiences, broad perspectives and different ways of solving problems. If you can bring this difference – this role might be for you.

We are looking for someone to join our academic team to:

  • Further increase the quality of our research activity output both in publications and with external grant funding and to engage in the impact of that research (e.g. seek to change policy in organisations and government)

  • Push our discipline forward and break new ground (e.g. through theoretical and methodological innovations, simulations and technology)

  • Recruit and inspire the next generation of psychologists

  • Take an international perspective on how research is conducted and implemented

This post would involve lecturing, running seminars, conducting assessments, devising and overseeing research projects (BSc, MSC) and giving pastoral care to our students. The provision of deep learning is required in order to achieve high student satisfaction – so, the ability to design, plan and deliver high quality teaching which can be evaluated and reflected upon to achieve the highest outcomes is essential.

This would involve; supervising and line managing research students and researchers, presenting and interpreting outcomes and findings and engaging outside the university to apply and influence policy makers and the scientific community.

The job involves demonstrating high level interpersonal skills with people from all over the word with very different needs; working within the university’s regulations and governance in relation to teaching; and to get up to speed with our systems.

The successful candidate will need to be flexible and at times might be expected to teach outside of their research area, as well as making a wider contribution to the school and institution.  To this end they need to be collegiate, involving themselves in additional activities, working in a team deliver key projects and taking opportunities to represent the school to the outside world.

A PhD in psychology is essential.

So, if you’re someone who can brings fresh ideas from the outside with all the above - and if you’re reliable and have an appetite to get involved in the wider aims of the school, we’d encourage you to apply.
