The Autism Program of the Child Study Center (CSC) at the Yale School of Medicine seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Clinical Child Psychology to join an innovative research and clinical program focused autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders.   

The Yale CSC is a leading institution for multidisciplinary clinical services and research on neurodevelopmental disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The CSC is a vibrant and exciting work environment with extensive opportunities for training and career development. 

This position will involve clinical responsibilities in the Yale CSC Outpatient Clinic and the Yale Autism Center of Excellence (ACE; Program.  Through the CSC Outpatient Clinic, the applicant will be expected to provide diagnostic, consultation, and therapeutic services individually and as part of a multidisciplinary evaluation team, with a focus on children with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders.  The ACE Program represents a joint effort across child psychiatry, pediatrics, radiology, and statistics departments at Yale focused on identifying prenatal and neonatal precursors of later core and comorbid symptoms of ASD.  Through the ACE Program activities, the applicant will be expected to lead multidisciplinary clinical characterization of study participant from infancy into adolescence.  The applicant will be encouraged to collaborate with the research team on implementation of research protocols and on manuscript preparation, as well as to present their work at nationally and internationally.

The position entails conducting and overseeing psychological assessments in clinical and research settings and providing clinical oral and written feedback to families.  The position also involves training and supervision of pre- and postdoctoral trainees. 


The successful candidate must possess the following:

  1. Doctoral degree in clinical or school psychology, with emphasis in autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders
  2. Eligibility for licensure in Connecticut
  3. Expertise in providing diagnostic and consultation services
  4. Clinical proficiency in administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) 
  5. Strong track record in training and supervision
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated experience with treatment of children with autism and other developmental disorders
  2. Research reliability in the ADOS-2 and the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R)
  3. Peer-reviewed publications in area relevant to clinical science
