Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology (Clinician Educator) Pain Psychologist Headache

The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California Department of Neurology, is seeking a full time faculty member for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology (Clinician Educator) Division of Headache.

The USC Headache and Neuralgia Center, which offers comprehensive treatment for patients with headache and facial pain, is looking for a Pain Psychologist with APA-accredited training in Clinical Psychology to join our team and participate in our interdisciplinary Headache and Facial Pain treatment team to assess, diagnose, and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders and chronic headache and facial pain. 

Candidates with thorough knowledge and experience with psycho-diagnostic interviewing, to determine diagnosis according to DSM-V guidelines, alongside the following skills/experience, are preferred:

  • Training and experience in the specialty of Pain Psychology
  • Prior experience using well-established psychological assessment tools
  • Trained and certified, as applicable, in delivery of evidence based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapies
  • Knowledge and experience with teaching and training others (clinicians, students, practitioners)
  • Knowledge of Windows-based computer software and electronic medical records
  • Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team
  • Knowledge of child abuse and domestic violence reporting requirements, and other significant legislation and laws regulating mental health practice, including the ability to make appropriate interventions based on law and policy
  • Excellent writing, verbal, and planning skills, including ability to write clear and concise reports

Candidates are required to have a Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, a California State License by the Board of Psychology, and have training and experience in the specialty of Pain Psychology.
