The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of peptide design and chemistry, computational methods (machine learning, deep learning, genetic algorithms), microbiology, synthetic biology, and related areas essential to developing novel antimicrobial and neuropeptide-based therapeutics. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include leading interdisciplinary research projects at the intersection of bioengineering, microbiology, computational biology, synthetic biology, and peptide design. This includes managing a research team, collaborating with faculty across departments, publishing in high-impact journals, and pursuing external funding to support ongoing and future projects.

The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with diverse research groups, publish in top-tier journals, and translate research findings into potential therapeutic applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
