Florida Institute of Technology’s School of Behavior Analysis is seeking applicants for a teaching-track position at the assistant professor level, with a specialty in any area of behavior analysis to start as soon as possible, but no later than January 2025.

Requirements for all our faculty positions: A Ph.D. in behavior analysis or a doctorate in psychology or education with an emphasis in behavior analysis, evidence of research productivity, and teaching experience. BCBA or BCBA-D certification is required.

The required area of expertise is open, but the preferred candidate will have completed formal coursework in the experimental analysis of behavior, applied behavior analysis (clinical applications, educational applications, organizational behavior management [OBM]), and conceptual analysis/philosophical underpinnings of behavior analysis. We are recruiting candidates with strong administrative and teaching skills and we are particularly interested in candidates with instructional design or OBM experience. The successful candidate will also be expected to conduct research, although more emphasis will be placed on administrative duties. S/he will assist the Director of the ABA Online Institute to manage our online masters and certificate programs, teach three courses (mainly online, but on campus teaching opportunities also exist) per academic year, and advise/mentor students. This is a 12-month position.

The Assistant Professor & ABA Online Academic Coordinator is a teaching track position that reports to the Director of the ABA Online Institute and is responsible for assessing existing curricula, reviewing new curricula, managing the delivery of instructional content, and monitoring the quality of online courses. The Academic Coordinator will work closely with Lead Instructional Managers and provide oversight of courses taught by ABA Online Instructors. Other primary duties include ensuring the ABA Online Institute remains in good standing with accrediting and other relevant bodies (e.g., SACS, ABAI, APBA, BACB) and the university's assessment team (APAC). Fostering and maintaining a collaborative relationship with our partners, in particular, ABA Technologies and their Curriculum Instruction Team, is also of great importance. The Academic Coordinator will use pass rates for the following as a measure of programmatic success: Courses (in particular BEH 5041),  FPE, and BACB first-time test takers.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate, manage and supervise course delivery (including projections for the number of sections needed per semester, assigning sections, syllabi updates, course builds in Canvas, access to asynchronous recordings, oversee the process of instructor substitutions, approve hours worked by Lead Instructional Managers and Instructors, complete instructor performance evaluations and analyze student satisfaction survey results).

  • Compete academic related reports (e.g., VCS, APAC/WEAVE, FPE). Meet with the curriculum instruction team to discuss findings and coordinate program adjustments. Assist Director with accreditation efforts.

  • Recruit and review Instructor-In-Training (ITT) applications and participate in the interview/evaluation process. Provide hiring recommendations to the Director. Supervise the ITT training process.

  • Review item analyses of unit tests and final exams that are provided by Lead Instructional Managers. Approve revisions of instructional materials and test items.

  • Oversee the use of proctoring software and supervise those that review activity that is flagged as suspicious.

  • Provide support to Lead Instructional Managers. Discuss student performance and suspicious activity. Address escalated student issues and inform students of outcomes.

  • Conduct pre-semester meetings with Instructors to review recent changes and expectations.

  • Generate a line of research that pertains to the ABA Online Institute.

  • Service: Participate in SoBA, CoPLA and/or university-related committees/meetings.

  • Teach the equivalent of 1 unit per semester (e.g., 3, 3-credit courses per year).

Requirements Include:

  • Ph.D. (or Ph.D. in progress) in behavior analysis or related field with experience in behavior analysis teaching or training.

  • Maintain certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in good standing.

  • Demonstrate mastery in the concepts and principles of behavior analysis.

  • Communicate information effectively in a clear, courteous and timely manner to students and team members.

  • Teach effectively.

  • Facilitate student achievement of educational outcomes and maintain high student satisfaction scores.

  • Work effectively as part of a team.

  • Take initiative, self-manage and prioritize and complete tasks independently.

  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canvas and PAWS.

  • Learn new technologies/programs quickly and independently (e.g., Panapto, Playposit, Slate, Workday).

  • A wired, high-speed internet connection sufficient to effectively conduct online activities.

  •  Flexibility of work hours (evenings and weekend day/evenings are required).

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information, and imposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.

Florida Tech’s 2023 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on public properly within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.
 
The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.
 
The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures; descriptions of prevention and awareness programs; related university procedures and important guidance; and other essential safety information.

Official Transcripts

Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Office of Human Resources prior to the first day of employment.
