Assistant Professor in Sport Science with a focus on Sport Psychology (with tenure-track transition option to an extraordinary professorship)

Commencement date: August 1, 2021.

The Institute of Sport Science at the University of Bern is distinguished by its social and behavioural science approach related to sports phenomena. In this interdisciplinary context, the successful candidate will undertake teaching and research on psychological aspects of sports.

Teaching obligations concern the entire field of Sport Psychology. The successful candidate is also expected to support the Masters programme profiles, in particular «Teaching and Learning». Teaching experience in Research Methods and proof of excellence in teaching (in German or English) is desired.

In particular, internationally recognised empirical research in sport psychology evidenced through peer-reviewed publications, a proven capability to design and implement interdisciplinary projects, and experience in extramural research funding are required.
 
We seek a candidate with a completed PhD dissertation as well as further relevant research achievements.
 
This assistant professorship with tenure track (transition) at the University of Bern is planned as follows: a vacant professorship will be filled for a period of three years and, with a positive evaluation after this time, the incumbent will be promoted to Associate Professor (ausserordentliche Professur). Presently, the assistant professorship is assigned to a transition phase from August 1, 2021 until the retirement of the current department head (Prof. Dr. Achim Conzelmann) on July 31, 2024 in the Department for Sports Science with a focus on sports psychology and research methods. With the successful promotion to an Associate Professor (ausserordentliche Professur) the incumbent will be connected with the responsibilities of leading the department.
