Posting Summary            


We are seeking applications for a full-time, 12-month non-tenure track Assistant Professor appointment in the Department of Health Behavior, Society, and Policy (HBSP). The successful candidate will primarily be devoted to our teaching mission. The Department currently has two concentrations, Social and Behavioral Health Sciences (SBHS) and Health Systems and Policy. The candidate will teach the core course in SBHS; develop and teach other courses in the Department; contribute to the development and implementation of a new concentration in HBSP and to new degree programs, certificate programs, and global partnerships; serve on doctoral committees; and provide academic and practicum advising, as well as mentoring for Master of Public Health degree students. This is a renewable, 3-year, appointment.


The incumbent faculty member shall:

• Teach a minimum of 4 courses per year (including online and summer courses)

• Use recognized teaching methods to implement novel curriculum, teaching methodologies, or programs.

• Utilize recognized best practice for public health education, including active and experiential learning pedagogies


    Collaborate with leadership to ensure assigned courses meet the needs of the Department

    Be familiar with the educational requirements associated with the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH); develop course content that meets and assesses these requirements

    Develop a system to demonstrate that the minimum educational requirements are met for each course

    Aid in the maintenance and management of course scheduling for HBSP students

    Have the opportunity to collaborate on grant-writing and peer-reviewed publications

    Participate in departmental and School service

    Other required activities will depend on the candidate’s chosen promotion track (teaching, professional practice, clinical)




Minimum Education and Experience      


Successful applicants will have:

• A doctoral degree ideally from a School of Public Health

• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring professional experience in a classroom setting

• Experience teaching relevant undergraduate or graduate public health courses

• Knowledge of Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accreditation requirements and procedures

• Evidence of a commitment to diversity
