POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine, University Health Network/Sinai Health System (UHN/SHS), and the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto invite applications for a full-time, permanent Academic Neurologist with a focus on epilepsy.

The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor, with preference given to candidates whose appointment aligns with the position description of Clinician in Quality Improvement at the University of Toronto.

For appointments as Clinician in Quality Improvement, scholarly excellence will be assessed based on:

  • Advanced training in quality improvement or equivalent.
  • Successful quality improvement initiatives.
  • Evidence of practice and/or equipment innovations.
  • Invited presentations at significant conferences.
  • Awards and recognitions.
  • Other related scholarly accomplishments.

The effective start date will be at a mutually agreed upon date after January 1, 2027.


REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must:

  • Hold an MD degree or equivalent.
  • Hold, or be eligible for, certification in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).

Candidates applying for the Clinician in Quality Improvement position must also have:

  • Advanced training in quality improvement or an equivalent qualification.

The academic appointment will be within the Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine, University of Toronto.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Research and clinical focus will be on movement disorders.

Clinical responsibilities will include:

  • Clinical service within the Division of Neurology.
  • Participation in the Krembil Brain Institute for:
    • On-call service.
    • Inpatient care.
    • Ambulatory care.

Teaching responsibilities will be assigned according to the requirements of the Division of Neurology.


SALARY

The salary range will be CAD $290,000–$295,000 per year, depending on clinical work.
