The Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of workplace mental health. The successful candidate will also be the inaugural Emily Geldsaler Grant Early Career Professor in Workplace Mental Health for the first three years of the appointment. The professorship may be renewed for an additional three years following a successful review. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor. The expected start date will be January 1, 2020.

We are seeking exceptional candidates with programs of research in workplace mental health from an occupational science and/or occupational therapy perspective, including programs of study at any of the following levels: organizational, population, policy, service delivery and individual. Research must emphasize workplace mental health and may include the following: mental health promotion and illness prevention in the workplace; work integration for populations who have been marginalized from the workplace; promising practices in return to work, transitions to school, work or volunteerism; work-related policy; organizational culture; and combating stigma in the workplace, or related programs of study.

Applicants must have a PhD in occupational science or occupational therapy, rehabilitation, social or health science, or a related field at the time of appointment; will be within 10 years of completion of their academic training; will have completed a post-doctoral fellowship or equivalent, such as a scientist role at a university or research institute, for a minimum of one year; and will be registered or eligible to register with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario. The successful candidate will have an international reputation for their independent, innovative program of research and will be expected to sustain and lead an outstanding, competitive and externally funded research program at the highest international level.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an exceptional record of excellence in research, innovative scholarship and teaching. Excellence in research will be demonstrated through a record of sustained, high-impact publications in leading international and discipline-related refereed journals as first and senior responsible author; competitive, national grants as principal investigator; the current and projected program of research; invited presentations at significant conferences; distinguished awards and accolades and other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline; as well as strong endorsements by referees of high standing. Excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments in an entry-level Master of Occupational Therapy program; the teaching dossier, including a strong teaching statement, sample syllabi or other teaching materials, and teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
