The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine is seeking a Clinical Research Project Manager for the Additcation Sciences Division. The Addiction Sciences Divison represents a collaborative effort among the University of Cincinnati, UC Health, and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Cincinnati. Our mission is to discover and refine medical and scientific knowledge and translate it via education, training, and dissemination into high quality, evidence-based treatments for people suffering from addiction-related conditions. Addicion Science Division research is supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with some clinical trial support from the pharmaceutical industry


The Clinical Research Project Manager, under supervision, will actively participate, plan, and evaluate multiple, complex and/or multifaceted research programs for speciic clinical research studies as assigned by the Addiction Sciences Division.


Primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide oversight and direction to study teams to ensure proper conduct in all aspects of a clinical trial being performed in a single site without providing direct supervision to staff members.
  • Create or assist in creating study documentation not provided by the lead research team for use by the study site.
  • Assist site with pre-implementation activities.
  • Provide consultation and direction to study teams to resolve logistical problems associated with the research.
  • Ensure the site is fully prepared to initiate study activities.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring of study performance, including data entry, inventory, recruitment, retention, and compliance with the protocol.
  • Serve as a liaison between the site and the sponsor representatives to ensure open communication and resolve any problems associated with study logistics and/or data quality.
  • Perform technical writing as needed; this may include but is not limited to creation of Standard Operating Procedures, monitoring reports, and participation in study writing teams for publication.
  • Collaborate with other study functions, such as regulatory, training, business, and other project managers and quality assurance staff to facilitate clear communication and management of the site.
  • Attend national meetings as required; facilitate local study management meetings with the site on a regular basis.
  • Travel to the site as needed for direct monitoring, training, and/or mentoring.
  • Provide clear communication regarding site progress towards goals, problems, and other logistical issues with the lead study team and/or local ASD research management team.
  • Assist site with closeout activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in related discipline or equivalent education/experience. 5-10 years of directly relevant experience, preferably in an academic or clinical setting. Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification: Appropriate certification strongly preferred.
