Distance Education: Unity College Online

Our distance education unit, started in 2016, extends the effects of a Unity College education to adult learners, and beyond the physical confines of the flagship campus. Job Description:

Unity College is accepting applications for Adjunct Instructors in Psychology.  We are currently seeking instructors to teach the following courses:

PY 1013 Introduction to PsychologyThis course is a survey of psychology as a science of behavior.  Topics include basic principles underlying behavior and experience, learning, human development, motivation, personality, and psychotherapies.

PY 2113 Group Process:  The basic principles of small group interaction will be explored in both didactic and experiential components of the course.  Topics will include communication skills, values clarification, group problem solving, group communication models, stages of group development, briefing and debriefing techniques, leadership and facilitation models, and group termination.  Some emphasis will be placed on aspects of processing diverse groups - non-formal educational, therapeutic and wilderness settings included.  This class will be offered in the spring Experiential Educator's Block and on campus in the fall.

PY 3133 Abnormal Psychology:  This course offers an in-depth study of various theoretical perspectives on psychological disorders, including psychosis, depression, anxiety, psychoactive substance use, and disorders of childhood and adolescence.  Bio-genetic, socio-cultural, and psychological theories of abnormality are examined, as are corresponding modes of treatment.



The ideal candidate must possess competence in the profession or discipline with the ability to effectively communicate training and subject matter to others.  Instructors will hold the minimum credentials appropriate to the discipline, such as professional certifications or appropriate academic degrees.  Master's degree and/or Ph.D. preferred.


Additional Information:

This is a temporary position which is located on the Unity College Flagship Campus at 90 Quaker Hill Road in Unity Maine and begins on August 19, 2019 and ends on December 16, 2019.

The college reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel or reassign any course.  Courses that do not achieve minimum student enrollment may be offered for reduced compensation.
