The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Educational Sciences, invites applications for a

Full Professorship for ‘Educational Psychology’ (W3)

starting as soon as possible.

The tasks to be performed within the framework of the professorship include research and teaching in the field of Educational Psychology and participation in exams and in the self-administration of the university. The teaching tasks result in particular from the requirements of the BA/MA degree programme in Education, the MA degree programme in Adult Education, the MA degree programme in Health Professions Education (Charité) and in the BA/MA teaching degree programmes.

The successful candidate is expected to do research and teaching in the field of psychological factors influencing learning, achievement and social behavior in school and instruction contexts. With a specific focus on teacher training, the successful candidate, who should have an academic degree in psychology, has a research and publication record in longitudinal intervention studies, including respective prevention and implementation strategies, and has strong background in theory-based empirical work in at least two of the following educational-psychological research areas:

  • social-cognitive, motivational and emotional influences on learning and development
  • Design and evaluation of teaching and instruction to enhance student motivation, learning and personality development
  • Enhancement of learning and motivation in heterogeneous learning groups
  • Strengthening of social climate, social skills, motivation and learning in school and classrooms
  • Process and status diagnostic procedures for the above areas

Furthermore collaboration with existing empirical educational research structures at Humboldt-Universität, in particular the Institute for Educational Quality Improvement (IQB), the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Professional School of Education (PSE), the Interdisciplinary Center for Educational Research (IZBF), the Berlin Institute for Integration and Migration Research (BIM) and the State Institute for School and Media Berlin-Brandenburg is expected.

The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 100 of the `Berliner Hochschulgesetz`.
