Junior Specialist in Psychology

The Department of Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Junior Specialist I/II in the Whitney Laboratory for Perception and Action, directed by Professor David Whitney. The candidate will work on a collaborative project, Isolating and Mitigating Sequentially Dependent Perceptual Errors in Clinical Visual Search, which will investigate psychological mechanisms of serial dependencies in visual perception and decision making, with potential benefits on improvement of visual search performance in clinical practice.

The junior specialist will be expected to work collaboratively with a research team to recruit research participants and administer psychological and neuroimaging tests. The candidate will also take part in data analysis, research group discussions, and manuscript preparation.

• Plan and execute visual psychophysical and neuroimaging research
• Administer IRB protocols and related documents
• Collaborate with other researchers and clinicians for the project goal
• Define experiments that advance the entire project

Minimum/Basic Qualifications Required: 
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent international degree at the time of application or enrolled in Bachelor’s degree or equivalent international degree program at the time of application.

Additional Qualifications: 
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent international degree by start date

Preferred Qualifications: 
• Laboratory experience working with human participants
• Experience running psychological and/or neuroimaging experiments 
• Experience with writing experiment/analysis codes with MATLAB/Python/R
• Experience in administrative work (e.g., participant recruitment, paperwork, reimbursements)

Appointment: The initial appointment will be made at 100% time for 1 year with a start date of August 1, 2019. Thereafter, 1 year annual appointments renewable based on satisfactory performance and availability of extramural funding and support.
