The Post

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and talented individual to join the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport who can help us continue to build on our success and help deliver the University's strategic plan.


As a Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship) in The Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport with extensive expertise in the field of Sport Psychology, you will contribute to and provide academic leadership to those working within the undergraduate and postgraduate sport programmes. Applicants should have experience of working within a Higher Education environment and a breadth of teaching, curriculum development and scholarly expertise. Applicants are expected to lead and develop internal and external networks within their scope of expertise, engage in pedagogic and practitioner research, and contribute to innovative teaching and learning strategies that enhance the student experience.


You will be expected to contribute to scholarship and research activity in the sport, health and exercise sciences at the University of Stirling through individual and collaborative activity in the psychology of sport including:

  • Engaging with academic, policy and practitioner networks to identify and develop appropriate areas for scholarly collaboration including research, consultancy, and the production of learning and training materials
  • Production of written outputs in the area of sport management including peer reviewed outputs, learning and teaching texts, and expert reviews and guidance
  • Development of funding bids including especially impact-generating collaborations with the sport management sector
  • Dissemination of scholarly activity to diverse academic, policy and practitioner audiences through contributions to conferences, workshops and expert groups

Description of Duties

Grade 7

  • Contribute to the design, delivery, assessment and evaluation of a range of teaching and learning, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including online/digital programmes, where required
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the quality of teaching provision and programme development, drawing on leading practices from the HE sector
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of effective approaches to teaching and learning support as key contributions to high quality student learning
  • Contribute to enhancement of the student experience and employability

OR

Grade 8

  • Design, deliver, assess and evaluate a range of teaching and learning, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate, postgraduate including online/digital programmes, where required
  • Contribute to curriculum review and enhancement, in a manner that supports student learning and is underpinned by evidence based scholarly activity
  • Enhance the quality of teaching provision and programme development, drawing on leading practices from the HE sector
  • Develop and apply new, effective and appropriate teaching and learning techniques and material, which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students
