About the team

The School of Psychological Science at UWA is ranked 42nd in the 2019 QS World University rankings by subject and the discipline was judged as “well above world standard” [the highest rating of 5] in all four Excellence in Research for Australia assessments, most recently in 2018. Only one other Australian university has achieved this maximum level of performance in Psychology across all four ERA rounds.


Strong links have been developed with the UWA Business School and Energy and Minerals Institute, and with the Schools of Human Sciences and of Engineering & Mathematical Science. The School regards Work Psychology, including Business and Industrial and Organisational (IO) Psychology and Organisational Behaviour, as a significant, strategic growth area. In addition to its accredited Master and combined Master/PhD in IO Psychology, we have recently launched a new Master in Business Psychology.


About the opportunity

We are looking to appoint a motivated, driven, and passionate academic in the area of Work Psychology. As the successful appointee, you will play a significant part in further developing the international research reputation of the School in Work Psychology. The position also offers exciting opportunities for leadership in teaching and learning in our dynamic, growing, Work Psychology programs.


To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • A skill set and a desire to work with others, including industry partners, to operate collaboratively across numerous projects, with a focus on research translation into industry at a state, national, and/or international level
  • PhD qualification with a specialty in Business Psychology, Industrial and Organisational Psychology, Organisational Behaviour, or a related discipline
  • Expertise in Leadership, Coaching, Business-related Research Methods, and/or Organisational Design
  • A good track record of research achievement including publications in international journals
  • The ability to develop industry partnerships for research and training

In this position, you will attract research funds and develop industry partnerships for research, and for student research and placement opportunities. You will play a key role in the development and delivery of research-led teaching into the postgraduate Business Psychology and/or IO Psychology programs. You will supervise research students at Honours and postgraduate levels and, as appropriate, supervise work placement students and develop and deliver undergraduate/honours teaching. You will contribute to the core service activities of the School and Faculty and to the University’s community and engagement outreach activities.
