Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to enhance the excellence in teaching and research in Psychology within the School of Social Sciences. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing cross-disciplinary collaborations within Psychology and with other disciplines in the social sciences and wider university. The candidate would participate in the design of Psychology modules, and would be expected to take an active role in the teaching of our successful undergraduate Psychology programme as well as to support our taught postgraduate programme.


Candidates with advanced qualitative methods expertise are particularly welcome to apply.

College / School / Directorate Information


- PhD in Psychology or a relevant subject

- Experience of teaching at University (or equivalent) level

- An established research profile and the ability to produce research outputs of internationally excellent quality for UK REF submission

- Clear evidence of research objectives and the ability to conduct individual or collaborative research projects and to generate external funding

- Clear evidence of learning and teaching competence


- Experience in University learning and teaching practice;

- Experience of curriculum development

- Experience of supervision of undergraduate/taught and research postgraduate student projects;

- Experience of applying knowledge in practice, e.g. with consultancy

- Experience of successful international student recruitment;

- Experience of supervision of research students
