  • Full-time Continuing Employment, Academic Level B or C: Base Salary: $104,155 p.a. - $147,115 p.a. plus annual leave loading and a generous employer’s contribution to superannuation

About the opportunity 


Reporting to the Head of School, the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position primarily contributes to research teaching and clinical supervision in the Master of Clinical Psychology program. A Lecturer applies their learnings through research and scholarly activity to inform their education and research practice. A Lecturer is expected to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, design and evaluation within the School/ Faculty while continuing to build their research contribution, expertise and impact.


Senior Lecturer is recognised at a national level for expanding knowledge within the discipline or area of expertise. At the University, a Senior Lecturer is expected to make a significant contribution to the research, education and administrative endeavours of their School/ Faculty while building their reputation towards becoming an authority in the discipline.

As such, we see the importance in recruiting talent aligned to these values in the pursuit of research excellence and are seeking to recruit for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Psychology role within the School of Psychology, who has:


  • PhD in clinical psychology or closely-related discipline; Postgraduate degree in clinical psychology accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (or international equivalent).
  • Registration as a psychologist with an Area of Practice Endorsement (AoPE) in clinical psychology, or eligibility for registration with an AoPE in clinical psychology.
  • Approved supervisor status with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) or eligibility to undertake PsyBA approved supervisor training.
  • Sound knowledge of clinical psychology practice, especially as outlined in clinical psychology AoPE competencies.

The School was the first established psychology department in Australia and has a proud history of excellence that characterises all of its research and educational activities. The Clinical Psychology Unit (CPU) within the School of Psychology delivers an APAC accredited Master of Clinical Psychology program, , and a combined Master of Clinical Psychology/PhD program, providing comprehensive training across coursework, research-led practice and clinical placements with child, family and adult populations. The programs adopt a Scientist-Practitioner model, led by practising clinical psychologists with expertise in their research areas that is recognised at an international level.  The CPU is actively committed to facilitating and deepening cultural humility and responsiveness in all aspects of their teaching and research. Ideally, the successful candidate’s area of teaching and research will complement the current CPU staffing profile and/or teaching needs of the Master of Clinical Psychology program, including cultural competence (particularly relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people), and interventions for complex clinical presentations such as psychosis or personality disorders.


The Faculty of Science is one of six faculties operating within the University and includes the Schools of  Chemistry, Geosciences, History and Philosophy of Science, Life and Environmental Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, Psychology, and the Sydney School of Veterinary Science.
