Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Professional Practice) in Counselling

Main purpose of the job:

Applications are invited to apply for two part-time (0.5FTE), without-term Lecturer/Senior Lectureships (Professional Practice) in Counselling Psychology to  primarily teach on our BSc Psychology and Counselling and BA Therapeutic Psychology programmes. We are looking for applicants with expertise in teaching counselling theories which inform our integrative stance i.e. person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT. In particular we are seeking applicants who have experience delivering counselling skills groups at undergraduate level.

Successful applicants will also be required to deliver learning experiences that relate theory to practice in preparation for future clinical practice, assessment and diagnosis of clients for counselling and supervision of undergraduate level research in counselling in qualitative or quantitative methodologies. Administration of the programme is shared with the teaching team and will be part of required duties.

Roehampton has a well-established reputation for its work in counselling and the therapies – particularly as a training institute. We are seeking applications from highly motivated candidates who will contribute to these well-established programmes delivered at Roehampton.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Contributing to training across the three years of the programme, including lectures, skills groups, personal tutorial groups and supervision of research work
  • Contributing to the recruitment and support of students while on the programme.
  • Working as part of the teaching team in administration duties, assessment of students and in continuing to develop expertise as required.
  • Carrying out and publishing, or producing in alternative format, high-quality research or professionally-related publications or making high quality contributions to professional practice
  • Contributing to curriculum development
  • Applying for external funding
  • Carrying out enterprise activities where required
  • Contributing to administrative and committee work within the Department
  • Contributing to quality assurance and enhancement of all activities
  • Undertaking any other appropriate duties as requested by the Head of Department/School
