The Response Coordinating Case Manager (RCCM) is part of the Student Outreach and Support Team to support mental health and well-being of the Mines student body. This position coordinates mental health and incident response services for the campus, primarily focusing on residence hall communities. This is a 10-month permanent position, with the option to live-on, that requires flexible scheduling designed to address participation in the on-call rotation throughout the year and during weekday, weekend, and holidays. The position primarily works evening and after-hours shifts and provides the option to live on-campus. Normal working hours are 2:00PM-12:00AM or 11am-9pm (four shifts per week per person).

The RCCM will provide support for students that are experiencing emerging crisis situations. They will also provide on-going case management, connect students to campus and community resources, and hold office hours.

Responsibilities

  • Provide imbedded crisis intervention to the Residence Life communities
  • Assess students’ emotional and/or psychological status and implement appropriate responses including referrals to campus and community medical and mental health resources.
  • Follow up with students of concern to monitor progress and deliver on-going case management.
  • Communicate with emergency contacts to provide updates on crisis situations as needed
  • Serve as the “on-call” incident response coordinator for one week each month, responding to acute mental health crisis situations that arise in the evenings and weekends.
  • Serve as a resource for Residence Life staff related to mental health and well-being
  • Create positive residential experiences for students living on campus by developing relationships and having a significant presence in the residence halls during evenings.
  • Meet with fellow crisis team members to coordinate care and support.
  • Communicate with Student Outreach and Support (SOS), Counseling, Health Center, Residence Life, Dean of Students, and other Student Life team members to provide updates regarding on-going situations
  • Participate in Residence Life programs to help build community and connections
  • Create and deliver programming to address mental health needs identified in the communities
  • Update student records in Maxient
  • On-call rotation approximately one week per month – serve in collaboration with one professional Residence Life staff member.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the area of psychology, counseling, social work, education, public health or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in community support services with a background in triage/crisis intervention
  • Familiarity with mental health needs of college students
  • High level of teamwork and communication skill with students, parents, colleagues, faculty, staff and community mental health partners
  • Experience building productive working relationships across multi-functional teams
  • Evidence of experience working with diverse identities and needs.
  • Demonstrated comfort and skill with crisis management, trauma, and multiple levels of severity of student presentation in a high-pressured college environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in the area of psychology, counseling, social work, education, public health or related field
  • Background working in a higher-education setting
  • Evidence of experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Two years of case management experience in a trauma setting, higher education or mobile crisis response unit addressing depression, suicidology, sexual assault cases, substance abuse, or other emotional or psychological issues
  • Experience working with Maxient
  • Advanced training in suicide prevention and sexual assault prevention

 

Salary, Benefits

$65,200 – $74,100 annual salary, prorated to $53,950 - $61,503 for this 10 month position

 

Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.

 

For the Response Coordinating Case Manager (RCCM), an expectation is in place that the individual employee must be able to be on campus within 15 minutes to respond to an on-call incident. While individual employees are not required to live on campus, an option to live on campus is made available to these employees for their benefit. For individuals choosing to reside on campus, rent will be paid by the employee and the residential unit is considered a taxable fringe benefit, and the value of the unit is taxed accordingly.
