The Department of Psychiatry, Yale University School of Medicine seeks a board-certified clinical psychiatrist, with advance practice credentials in Addiction Psychiatry, who will serve as Medical Director for both the Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit (CNRU) and the Forensic Drug Diversion (FORDD), programs affiliated with the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. This position carries a faculty appointment within the Department of Psychiatry at the Assistant Professor level.

As Medical Director of the Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit, the position will direct the medical operations of the CNRU, a 12-bed, inpatient psychiatric unit committed to the care and study of individuals with severe neuropsychiatric and substance use disorders.  In addition to providing direct expert clinical care as an attending psychiatrist, the position will also involve responsibility for overseeing a staff of Yale psychiatry attendings, chief residents, and junior psychiatry residents as well as a staff of State nurses, mental health and social workers.  Beyond providing expert clinical and clinical administrative services, the position will also oversee the training and education of rotating psychiatry residents (up to 10 annually) and medical students (up to 20 annually).  Thus, preference will be given to candidates who not only demonstrate excellent clinical skills, but who also possess excellence in psychiatric education.  Similarly, individuals with familiarity and/or expertise in patient-oriented clinical research, including those with experience as a study physician, will be given preference. 

An additional responsibility of this position will be to function as the Medical Director of the Forensic Drug Diversion Clinic. FORDD is a state-funded partnership between the Law and Psychiatry Division of the Department of Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine, the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services to provide an integrated system of outpatient care for men and women with substance-use disorders and criminal justice involvement. As Medical Director, this position will direct the medical operations of the FORDD clinic and provide medical oversight to all patients enrolled in the clinic. This position will act at Training Director within the FORDD, to train and supervise 8-9 Addiction Psychiatry Fellows and ~8 PGY2’s who rotate through the clinic yearly. This position will oversee and develop effective systems of care, including the Medication-Assisted-Treatment program.

Qualifications

Board-certified clinical psychiatrist, with advance practice credentials in Addiction Psychiatry. Preference will be given to candidates who not only demonstrate excellent clinical skills, but who also possess excellence in psychiatric education.  Similarly, individuals with familiarity and/or expertise in patient-oriented clinical research, including those with experience as a study physician, will be given preference.
