Description

The newly established Carol and Gene Ludwig Program for the Study of Neuroimmune Interactions in Dementia at Yale School of Medicine seeks to hire a new tenure track faculty member researching neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s Disease or related dementias. We are enthusiastic about candidates bridging disciplines and traditional conceptual or methodological boundaries.

The Carol and Gene Ludwig Program for the Study of Neuroimmune Interactions in Dementia is an interdisciplinary program set within the dynamic and expanding scientific community at Yale.   In addition to traditional departments, there are intersecting programs adding to the intellectual community, including the Kavli Institute for Neuroscience, the Wu Tsai Institute, the Program in Cellular Neuroscience, Neurodegeneration and Repair (CNNR), the Center for Brain and Mind Health, the Human and Translational Immunology Program, the Vascular Biology and Therapeutics Program, and the Swartz Program in Theoretical Neuroscience. The Yale Combined Program in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS) provides robust Ph.D. training to a large group of students across eight scientific tracks including Neuroscience, Immunobiology, Computational Biology and Biomedical Informatics, Translational Molecular Medicine, Pharmacology, and Physiology, and others. The School of Medicine provides outstanding support to researchers via shared facilities and cores such as microscopy, neurotechnology, animal behavior, flow cytometry, genome analysis, iPSC biology, high performance computing, small and large animal neuroimaging, Focused Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscope (FIB-SEM), data science, as well as resources for nonhuman primate research.  New faculty will be supported by a generous start-up package and ongoing salary support.  Faculty are expected to develop a productive and innovative research program that will include the opportunity to participate in graduate and medical education.

The successful candidates will be embedded in a richly collaborative community supporting intellectual creativity. We realize that the full potential of our research lies in the power that diverse perspectives bring to the field. We foster an environment where individuals of any race, gender identity, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic class, sexual orientation, and geographical background feel supported and empowered to push forward the frontiers of science. We therefore strongly encourage applicants from historically minoritized backgrounds to apply.
