-To determine the contribution of this family of genes to the immune alterations present in a cohort of schizophrenic patients (up to 200 patients).

-To assess the relative importance of immune vs neural effects of this family of genes to the behavioral and molecular hallmarks of schizophrenia.

To accomplish with these aims, the candidate will work using human blood samples from schizophrenia patients and human postmortem brain samples from controls and patients too. Mouse primary neurons or differentiated iPSCs to neurons will be also used. In vivo experiments with mutliple lines of genetically modified mice for this family of genes will also be performed. Complex statistical analysis will be carried out comparing results obtained from experiments using human samples with several clinical scores from patients. The use of brain organoids are also possible.
