PostDoc Position in Behavioural Science

 

Applications are invited for a PostDoc position (three years) at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. The PostDoc will collaborate with Robert Böhm, Professor in Applied Social Psychology and Behavioural Science (from October 2019) at the Department of Psychology. The PostDoc will be part of the newly established and growing research group on Personality and Social Psychology at the Department of Psychology. Other members of the group are Jochen Gebauer (part-time), Thomas A. Morton, Séamus A. Power, and Ingo Zettler. Employment should start in January 2020 or shortly thereafter.

Job description


A postdoctoral position is a fixed-term academic position. The position is heavily weighted in favour of research. Other duties (e.g., research administration) may, furthermore, have to be performed to a limited extent. The University determines the exact ratio between the various responsibilities. The ratio may vary over time. The chosen candidate will be enrolled as PostDoc at the Faculty of Social Sciences. It is expected that the PostDoc works on research projects together with the supervisor but he/she may also pursue an independent line of research.

 

Qualifications


Applicants should have a PhD in Behavioural Science, Psychology, (Behavioural/Experimental) Economics, or a related discipline at the beginning of the employment. The candidate should have knowledge and research experience in the field of interpersonal or intergroup conflict and cooperation. Experiences in the following research methods are desirable: behavioural online/lab/field experiments (preferably utilizing ‘economic games’), agent-based simulations. Candidates with experience or interest in multi-disciplinary research are preferred. It is not a requirement to understand, speak, or learn Danish.

 

Salary and conditions of employment


Terms of appointment and salary will be in accordance with an agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The salary range starts at DKK 34.079,13 (EUR 4,560) per month + a 17,1 % contribution to the pension scheme. It is possible to negotiate salary supplements on an annual basis.

 

The Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) have further agreed on a protocol that makes it possible for international researchers employed by the University to achieve a pension exemption, whereby the pension contribution will be paid out as salary. The application, which must be written in English, should include a cover/motivation letter (max. 3 pages), CV, study certificates, up to three of the most important scientific publications, and the PhD thesis (if applicable), as well as at least one reference letter or the name and contact information of the person(s) who would provide the reference(s). The motivation letter should include ideas for planned research in the near future.

All applicants are subsequently notified whether an expert assessment committee has passed their application for assessment. Selected applicants are notified of the composition of the committee and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant him/herself.
