Laboratory Overview

The Fenghua Hu Lab (hu.wicmb.cornell.edu) studies molecular and cellular mechanisms of neurodegeneration, with a focus on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD), and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The lab emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to understand disease pathophysiology and to develop innovative experimental strategies.


Position Summary

Postdoctoral positions are available for candidates with a recent Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or neuroscience. Successful candidates will conduct research on cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with mouse models

  • Expertise in membrane trafficking or lysosome biology

Responsibilities

  • Conduct molecular and cellular experiments to elucidate mechanisms of neurodegeneration

  • Collaborate with other lab members on experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation

  • Contribute to manuscript preparation and grant proposals

  • Participate in lab meetings and interdisciplinary discussions at the Weill Institute


Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or a related field

  • Prior laboratory research experience in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, or neuroscience


Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with mouse models of disease

  • Knowledge of membrane trafficking and/or lysosomal biology
