DescriptionThe Department of Neuroscience at The University of Texas at Austin seeks to appoint in Fall 2021 two early career fellows in Neuroscience. At UT Austin, we are committed to building a vibrant interdisciplinary community of scholars. If you are an early career researcher, postdoctoral fellow or graduating PhD student interested in pursuing an independent academic career, the UT Austin Provost’s Early Career program could be ideal for you. This training program is designed to allow you to develop and pursue research and teaching topics upon which you can build a future academic career. Join a broad community committed to fostering your independent career growth in research, teaching, and scholarship. The program will enable you to build a network of emerging scholars like yourself and benefit from the mentorship of top faculty in your field. Unique Postdoctoral Training Program For scientific training, you will select two mentors from among the faculty in any department at UT Austin. You will conduct research jointly in these two labs, while receiving support, mentorship, and career development training led by a mentorship team in the Department of Neuroscience. In this way, we will ensure that you develop a unique technical and conceptual perspective. Throughout the duration of the program, you will also participate in university-wide training provided by the Provost’s Office to further develop the skills to build a unique research and teaching portfolio. The funding package that Fellows receive includes a competitive stipend, fringe benefits, relocation funds, travel funds, and discretionary funds for research and training. QualificationsRequired qualifications include a PhD in neuroscience or a related field by June 1, 2021, demonstrated research excellence in neuroscience, and commitment to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level. Candidates are also expected to have a strong interest in mentoring the new generation of leaders in neuroscience, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the sciences.
