Postdoctoral position in addiction biology

Are you interested in a postdoc position in Addiction Biology, at the University of Gothenburg?

The overall aim of the present postdoc project headed by Associate Professor Elisabet Jerlhag, is to identify novel molecular targets for pharmacological treatment of patients with addictive disorders, including alcohol use disorder (AUD). AUD, affecting approximately 7 % of the population worldwide, is considered as one of the most serious public health problems worldwide, with devastating social, economic and personal consequences. The lack of effective treatments for addictive disorders is a global challenge, and novel treatments are thus needed. Over the last 15 years, our team have established that appetite regulatory peptides, such as ghrelin, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), neuromedin U (NMU) and amylin serve as such candidates in male rodents. This led to two on-going international randomized clinical trials (RCTs). The aim with the present postdoctoral project in thus to investigate and further fill the knowledge gap between appetite regulation and addiction.
