Postdoctoral Researcher in Psychology

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher in psychology for a fixed-term position at the School of Law, Psychology and Social Work, Örebro University.

Duties and responsibilities

The appointment as a postdoctoral researcher is intended to enable persons who have recently been awarded their doctoral degree, to consolidate and develop primarily their research/artistic skills. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher who is interested in and has prior research experience in one of the following areas: (1) integration and adjustment of immigrant youth, (2) inter-group relationships (e.g., majority-minority friendship and attitudes towards in- and out-group members), and (3) examining contextual effects (e.g., peers, parents, and school) in the development of inter-group relationships. The successful candidate will work on a large-scale quantitative data set, which has been collected as part of the Youth and Diversity project. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, analysing and writing up publications for international peer-reviewed journals in collaboration with the project leader. Experience with analysing complex data (e.g., multi-level and longitudinal data), and mastery of specialized statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS and Mplus) are expected from the successful candidates. Applicants must be able to speak and write in English fluently.


The person who is qualified for this position must have achieved a doctoral degree in psychology or other relevant discipline. The doctoral degree should have been awarded no more than three years prios to the application deadline. If special grounds exist, candidates who have obtained their doctoral degree prior to three years may be considered. Such ground may compromise leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, clinical duties, elected position in a trade union or other similar circumstances.

Assessment criteria

Particular importance shall be attached to the qualities enabling the candidate to contribute to the future development of research activities. The candidate's demonstrated ability and desire to pursue an academic career are also of significance, as their proficiency in cooperating with other members of staff and contributing to the development of the departmental activities. 


The position is for a fixed term for one year, with a possibility to extend to another year. The salary depends on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
