 About the position

The University of Stavanger is searching for a professor of special education / pedagogical psychology / health psychology / health promotion.

 

The theme of the position is mental health and life management in kindergarten and school.

 

The professorship is linked to the center's research, teaching and commissioned activities within mental health and life management in kindergartens and schools. The position is part of the center's R&D strategy and long-term professional goals. The person who is employed shall contribute to research, teaching and commissioning activities that strengthen and develop the center's service offering. The tasks will be teaching and guidance in the center's teaching assignments for the university.

 

Furthermore, the position is linked to the center's research and development projects in collaboration with the field of practice. Strengthening the collaboration with national and international institutions on research related to mental health and life management, as well as guidance of project employees are included in the position.

 

In the first instance, the position will include areas such as development, implementation and testing of efforts to promote life management and mental health in kindergartens and schools.

 

The position may also include teaching at the faculty's PhD programs. In the university's research strategy, emphasis is placed on linking students to research projects and providing accompanying guidance.

 

Those who are employed will also lead the way in the development and use of varied and digital learning methods in education, innovation and value creation based on results from research and professional development.

The position is organizationally linked to the National Center for Learning Environment and Behavioral Research, the Learning Environment Center. The center is part of the Faculty of Educational Sciences and the Humanities.

eligibility Requirements

We are looking for a professor with a high level of scientific competence in accordance with established standards for professor competence in the field.

 

Applicants with special competence in how kindergartens and schools can work to promote social and emotional competence, mental health and life management are preferred, but applicants with specialization in neighboring areas may also be relevant candidates.

 

Recent publication and potential for future research at a high academic level within the subject area are emphasized.

 

You must be able to document pedagogical and didactic competence related to higher education, or complete a university education course within a period of two years from accession. The course is offered by the university.

 

Emphasis is placed on the applicant having qualifications about mental health and life management in kindergartens and schools that are relevant to the center's activities. Experience from collaboration with kindergartens and schools is emphasized. Qualifications both within implementation processes and

 

Evaluation of effects, including evaluation using experimental design, is emphasized.

 

The working and teaching language is Norwegian and English. If you do not master Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, you must acquire Norwegian knowledge equivalent to level B2 within a period of two years from accession. If necessary, you will be offered a Norwegian course paid by the university.

ability to involve and engage students in teaching where education objectives, content and assessment situations are closely linked

experience with and / or interest in the development and use of varied learning methods and digital tools in the teaching experience from collaboration with working life

experience with relevant international research networks and the ability to build and maintain networks - regional, national and international experience with innovation, innovation and commercialization of research

high working capacity, is curious and motivated to develop new knowledge together with other good cooperation and communication skills, and the ability to contribute to a constructive working environment

Qualifying Position

If applicants with insufficient scientific competence do not register, it may be appropriate to employ temporary staff for up to three years with a view to qualification and permanent employment.

 

Applicants must have the prerequisite for obtaining the necessary qualifications during the employment period.

General information

Your application will be reviewed by an expert committee. The main emphasis in the expert assessment is on evaluation of submitted scientific work and documented teaching competence. Experience from popularization / dissemination activities, subject political and academic administration work and any other documented qualifications relevant to the position will also be assessed by the experts.

 

If you do not satisfy central parts of the competence requirements, you may have the application rejected before applications are submitted to the expert committee for assessment.

 

On the basis of the expert committee's statement, relevant applicants will be invited to interview and trial teaching before the recommendation is submitted.

 

The university will recruit more women to professorships within the field. If several applicants are considered to have equal qualifications, a woman will be given priority over a man.

 

It is a condition that the person who is hired settles so that he or she can be present at, and available to, the academic community in the workplace during ordinary working hours.

In addition, the center works with self-initiated tasks within research and development, competence development for kindergartens and schools, as well as teaching and guidance at the university. The learning environment center's vision is to be a national driving force for promoting safe and good learning environments in kindergartens and schools. The center has two departments; one in Stavanger and one in Porsgrunn. There are currently 95 employees attached to the center.
