Palliative medicine involves a multiprofessional and multidisciplinary approach, with the aim of alleviating suffering and creating an optimal quality of life in people with diseases that are expected to lead to death in the foreseeable future. Alleviation of complex symptoms, as well as psychological, social and existential support for patients and their families is the focus.
