 Professorship (W2/W3) For Sports Psychology

The Faculty  Of Psychology  and Human Movement invites applications for a professorship (W2/w3) for sports psychology commencing on 01.October 2019,  


The Institute of sports science is currently restructuring, and appointing multiple new professorships. The future post holder has the opportunity to actively participate in setting the new direction.




The professor is expected to teach and conduct research in the field of sports psychology.


The successful candidate will be tasked with leading the new subject group sport, the individual, and society; assuming responsibility for the sports psychology and sociology curricula for all the field’s degree programs.


Research should focus on topics that allow for an interdisciplinary approach (e.g.,perception and knowledge; motor skills control; motor skills development and personality; motivation, emotions and affects with regard to gender, ethnicity, age, health, performance, and physical disabilities) and have demonstrable links to the university’s profile initiative mechanisms of change.


The Faculty Of Psychology And Human Movement welcomes open science and strives to conduct research that can be replicated and reproduced. Therefore, we support transparent research open data ,open research materials, and the pre-registration of empirical studies. Candidates are requested to describe how they intend to pursue these goals.


Section 12 subsection 7 sentence 2 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hoch-Schulgesetz,Hmbhg )applies.

Further Criteria:

Applicants are expected to have an empirical orientation and excellent methodological skills in quantitative and qualitative research. Applicants are also expected to have international rese-arch experience as well as a successful track record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects. The university places particular emphasis on the quality of teaching and therefore requests that applicants provide details of their teaching experience and objectives.


Following hearings, selected candidates will be assessed to as certain skills in the areas of management and human resources.
