These posts have been funded by Tesco PLC in order to achieve transformational change in health and well-being through psychological intervention and behaviour change. At the heart of the research is the ambition to improve health and wellbeing by reducing the health risks associated with overweight and obesity and to build scientist-practitioner capacity to tackle these.

Three posts are available, two of which are tenable full time for 38 months, one of which is tenable full time for 24 months. The posts are suited to experienced postdoctoral research associates (RA) to assist Professor Christopher Armitage and Professor Rachel Calam in research activity. You will work flexibly, which might include (but is not restricted to):

  • Conducting randomised controlled trials
  • Conducting systematic reviews/meta-analyses
  • Conducting secondary data analyses
  • Identifying and liaising with potential collaborators
  • Initial drafting of grant applications

You must be able to demonstrate expertise in two or more of the following:

  • recruiting and retaining large numbers of participants from patient and/or general populations that are directly relevant to the issue of reducing the health risks associated with overweight and obesity (e.g., children, parents, people attending weight management clinics);
  • systematic review and meta-analysis of the effectiveness of behaviour change interventions;
  • applying qualitative research methods to an advanced level;
  • management and analysis of large datasets;
  • senior authorship on at least two articles in high-quality peer-reviewed journals published in 2015 or currently “in press”.
