Purpose and Main Duties
We are looking for a person with excellent research and administrative skills to join a highly research intensive department which came 5th in RAE2008 and 5th in REF2014. The post-holder will take on the role of Director of Undergraduate Studies working closely alongside the Head of Department (Professor Mike Oaksford) to ensure that we continue to provide the highest quality experience for our students. The successful candidate would also be expected to join one of our research groups in one of the following areas: Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Health Psychology Cognitive Neuroscience of Perception, Attention, Emotion, Memory or Language Cognitive Science of Executive Control, Reasoning, Decision Making, Argumentation Cognitive Genetics Evidence of administrative ability and an established or developing track record in research, including quality journal publications, is essential. You will be responsible for the organisation and day to day running of our highly successful full-time and part-time BSc Psychology Programmes as well as continuing your research in a highly supportive and collaborative environment. The Department has excellent research facilities including a dedicated research fMRI scanner at the Birkbeck-UCL Centre for Neuroimaging.
Further Information
Salary: Grade 9 of the College's London Pay Scale which is £52,780 rising to £58,939 per annum. This post is full time, 35 hours per week (1.0 FTE) and open-ended. The salary quoted above rata for this is on the College's London Pay Scale and includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the Greater London area. The initial salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant. The appointment is subject to a probationary period of 3 years.
