AUC is actively seeking experienced Neuroscience Faculty to join a dynamic teaching group in the Department of Neuroscience and Physiology. The Neuroscience Faculty members team-teach the neuroscience course which is taught to second-year medical students three times per year. The successful candidate will have had significant experience teaching medical students a comprehensive, medical neuroscience curriculum in accredited U.S., Canadian or British medical education institutions with demonstrated competence in course administration. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clear delivery of a comprehensive, up-to-date course in medical neuroscience. The course is taught in approximately 65 hours, three times a year. There are 100 to 225 students per class.
  • Digital dissemination of course material to fourth semester medical students that is readily understood, current, and enables students to maximize their performance on USMLE Subject Exams and USMLE.
  • Integration of neuroscience course material with the other basic sciences and clinical medicine.
  • Providing USMLE style questions in neuroscience for examinations in the course.
  • Advising medical students in neuroscience during daily office hours and when needed by appointment.
  • Assuming other duties as may be required, including Course Director.
  • Attending one conference per year.

Qualifications: 

M.D. and/or Ph.D. from an accredited American or Canadian medical school. Associate Professor or higher with multiple years of experience teaching medical neuroscience to medical students, preferably at American or Canadian medical schools. The job is a full-time teaching position. AUC has been educating physicians since 1978 and is a well established Caribbean medical school. 

All Faculty members are expected to continue their professional development and/or scholarly achievement, their public and/or professional service and actively participate in university life. 

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
