Full Time : The appointment will be on UCL Grade 6. The salary range will be £29,485 – £31,091 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. We are seeking a Research Assistant to work in "The IDEA Project", which aims to increase knowledge on the use of psychological therapies for people with early stage dementia and the feasibility and acceptability of a preventive intervention for depression and depressive symptoms in this population. The researcher will be involved in collecting both qualitative and quantitative data by consulting people with dementia, their carers and professionals on the experience of depression, and subsequently in the randomised controlled trial (RCT) to test the feasibility of the intervention. The appointment is available from June 2016 and is funded by the Alzheimer’s Society, to May 2018 in the first instance. We require a first degree (2:1 or higher) in a relevant subject, or a clinical mental health qualification plus some research training, and excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. Candidates must also have experience of working with older people, and of working or other contact with people with dementia. The post would be particularly suitable for someone seeking a career in psychology or to develop as a clinical academic. This is a developmental post, and we require an RA to take on this role under supervision and with training.
