Research Associate in Psychology University of Lille, Department of Psychology

Description

We are looking for a master 2 researcher to join our laboratory working on the early stages of Parkinson’s disease (Inserm UMR-S1172, team early stages of Parkinson's disease).
Alpha-synuclein is the main toxic protein in Parkinson's disease where it is found hyperphosphorylated and aggregated. Briefly, the project aims to test whether a modification of O-GlcNAcylation could impact on the phosphorylation and structural properties of alpha-synuclein. This will require the use of cells transduced with alpha-synuclein and exposed to various pharmacological compounds, as well as collaboration with another lab specialized in structural and functional glycobiology (CNRS-UMR 8576).

Previous experience in cell culture, viral transduction as well as background in pharmacology, neuroscience or cell signaling will be appreciated. Ability to work in a team is mandatory.
The master can be done from Sept.2016 to July 2017, with a possibility of applying to a PhD fellowship as the project will develop.

The researcher will join a large and thriving community of neuroscientists, pharmacologist and clinicians gathered on Jean-Pierre Aubert Research Centre (Inserm UMR-S1172) and in the department of pharmacology of the Lille Faculty of pharmacy. Lille is one of the biggest student city in France, with over 100,000 students.

Interested candidates should send their CV, a brief statement of research interests and references to: karim.belarbi@inserm.fr

Please note that other opportunities are also available in our research team, both at master 2 and PhD levels (Inserm UMR-S1172, team early stages of Parkinson's disease headed by Dr. Marie-Christine Chartier-Harlin).
