Instructor in Psychology Bader International Study Centre at Herstmonceux Castle
The Bader International Study Centre (BISC), the UK campus of Queen’s University (Canada), is seeking a part-time instructor in the field of Psychology. Located in the fifteenth century Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex, the BISC prides itself on offering rigorous, innovative education to students from Canada and around the world. Academic programs include undergraduate Humanities, Commerce and Social Sciences, and specialised short programs in areas including Law, Engineering, Health Sciences, Digital Humanities, and Archaeology. Reporting to the Academic Director, the Psychology instructor will be responsible for delivering one upper-year Psychology course: PSYC 342 Psychology of Social Influence. The course spans the winter term (12 instructional weeks from January to April). The instructor will develop the course syllabus in line with the requirements outlined by the Queen’s University Department of Psychology and the Bader International Study Centre. The instructor will deliver course content in the form of lectures and seminars (3 hours/week), develop and lead field studies, hold regular office hours (1.5 hours/week), invigilate exams, grade assessments, and submit final grades. Lectures will take place at Herstmonceux Castle. Experiential learning, including field studies, is a requirement of every course offered at the BISC, and will likely take place off-site. Field studies and other experiential learning will be planned in coordination with the Experiential Learning Office. Applicants must hold a post-graduate degree in Psychology, and have demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate students. Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and successfully complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. Flexibility in work hours is expected. Lectures may take place in the evening and field studies will likely take place on Fridays and at weekends. This is a fixed-term contract position that expires upon the submission of final student grades in April 2017.
