DescriptionTwo Ph.D. positions in the field of ‘Opioid Pharmacology and Pain Research’ are available at the University of Innsbruck, supported by the Austrian Research Fund (FWF).
Applications are invited from EU nationals to join the Opioid Research Group at the University of Innsbruck, Institute of Pharmacy. The Opioid Research Group is involved in translational research in the fields of opioid pharmacology and opioid drug development. We are looking for highly motivated Ph.D. students with strong interest in Neuropharmacology to work on the FWF research project entitled “Neuropeptide engineering for improved chronic pain treatment”. The successful applicants will study new peptide and non-peptide ligand-opioid receptor interactions, GPCR signaling, in vitro and in vivo functional activities, antinociceptive and side effects of new opioid ligands in mouse models. The project is highly multidisciplinary and combines molecular, biochemical and pharmacological in vitro methods and in vivo behavioral assays in mice. The Ph.D. positions for the project are funded for 3 years. The successful candidates will enroll in the “Pharmaceutical Sciences” Ph.D. program at the University of Innsbruck. The working language is English. The Institute of Pharmacy is located in Innsbruck, in the Tirolian Alps, that besides a scientifically active environment offers excellent opportunities for cultural and sport activities. Candidates profile: Master degree or equivalent in Pharmacy, Biology or a related discipline. Practical experience with cell culture and biochemical techniques is of advantage. Experience in animal work is welcome but willingness to work with animals is essential. Excellent knowledge in written and spoken English is required.
