Western Connecticut State University's Department of Psychology is seeking a highly skilled and experienced educator to fill a tenure-track appointment beginning with the Spring 2017 semester. The successful candidate will have job-relevant teaching experience and be prepared to teach the following courses: Research Methods, Psychological Statistics, and some combination of Child Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, Adult Psychology, Advanced Developmental Psychology, and other related developmental psychology courses. Supervision of student research, student advisement, and coverage of evening courses are also expected. WCSU is primarily a teaching institution, requiring 12 credits per semester, but research is a criterion for hiring, tenure and promotion. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in appropriate department, university and professional service. Qualifications: A completed doctorate is required at time of employment. Degree specialization in Developmental Psychology is required as are excellent written and oral communication skills. Salary and Benefits: Salary range will be $59,668 - $80,030. In addition to competitive salaries commensurate with candidates' experience, the University offers a comprehensive benefit package. Courses in the Psychology department are designed to offer the psychology major a comprehensive education in the methods and content of the discipline of psychology while simultaneously providing some flexibility in course selections. Students are given a broad overview of the field in their first course - Introduction to Psychology, and are required to complete a four-course sequence dealing with the methods and statistics used by psychologists. Eleven full-time and 22 part-time faculty support majors pursuing the BA degree in Psychology.
