Post Doctoral Position in Neuroscience Federal University of Parana
DescriptionCandidates should have a PhD and strong background in in vivo electrophysiology.
Experience with single-unit recording in freely moving animals is relevant. A background in programming and/or optogenetic methods is welcomed. The postdoc will work in a project in collaboration with Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN) involving single-unit recording and optogenetic control of striatal neurons and midbrain dopaminergic neurons of freely moving rats. The goal of this project is to find correlation between neural activation and motivated behaviors. Optogenetic control of these neurons will be used to test causality. We have a 64-channels Plexon setup for single-unit recording and the Plexon optogenetic system is under purchase. This equipment and a friendly group is waiting for a highly motivated candidate in Curitiba, a 2 million-people city with the highest quality of life in Brazil.
