Assistant Professor of Psychological Sciences Daemen College, Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychological Sciences at Daemen College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to start September 2017 (or January 2017, if possible). The position requires a Ph.D. in Psychology or Cognitive Science/Neuroscience with area of specialization open. We are particularly interested in individuals with training in the biological bases of behavior and the ability to teach undergraduate courses in that area, as well as the ability to teach courses in statistics. Those who can teach courses related to developmental psychopathology are preferred. We seek candidates with a record of commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising. Individuals will also contribute to courses required for the Psychology degree (e.g., research methods, junior seminar, senior thesis) as well as introduction to psychological science and courses in their area of specialty.
Typical teaching load is seven courses per academic year. Continued scholarship is expected, as well as participation in our competency-based, interdisciplinary core curriculum. ABD candidates will be considered, but an earned Ph.D. is expected by the time of appointment. Prior teaching experience as primary course instructor is required; publication record preferred. Please upload the following documents to our electronic submission website http://daemen.applicantpro.com: cover letter, curriculum vitae, statements of teaching and research interests (including representative publications), teaching materials (including recent syllabi and sample assignments), teaching evaluations (data for each course; no personal summaries), unofficial transcripts, and three letters of recommendation. Questions about the position may be addressed to Dr. Denise Emer, Associate Professor/Chair, at demer@daemen.edu. To ensure consideration, complete application materials should be submitted by October 15. However, applications will be reviewed until the appropriate candidate is identified.
